Marangu route also known as the “Coca-Cola” route, is the oldest, most well established route. Many favor the Marangu route because it is considered to be the easiest route with gradual slope. It is also the only route which offers sleeping huts with piped water, flush toilets, dining areas and solar power.

The Machame route, also known as “whiskey route”, is the most popular hiking route on Mt. Kilimanjaro. Approximately 50% of trekkers use the Machame Route to climb Mt. Kilimanjaro. The route is very scenic, with incredible views and varying landscapes.

This route is gentle and its slow ascent allows the body enough time to acclimatize to the high altitude and therefore giving excellent chance of reaching the summit.

The Rongai route approaches Kilimanjaro from the north, close to the Kenyan border. It is the quietest route on the mountain. The route offers trekkers a relatively un spoilt wilderness experience.

The Northern Circuit route on Kilimanjaro offers 360 degrees of beautiful scenery on the mountain.  It is a very quiet route and rarely visited. It is the longest route on Kilimanjaro, and therefore has the most acclimatization time and the highest summit success rate.
